Mama-D, as she was called by her family, died peacefully on October 14, 2020. She was not in pain nor was she ill, it was just her time. Doris graced our family for 100 years. Doris loved to dance and never missed a chance to kick up her heels. She loved life and thought we should not have to die. Doris was a faithful member of the Baptist church and wherever she lived she would find a church to call home. Born in East Point, Georgia on May 15, 1920 to Mildred Keen Weaver and Leonard Lebrant Weaver. She had strong Georgia roots. She retired from Highland Park State Bank as a teller. Doris was never afraid to give advice or offer her opinion. She was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.
Doris is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Keen Ruvo; father, Leonard Lebrant Weaver; husband, Herbert Rush Courtney; brother, Hewlett Lebrant Weaver; son, Herbert Rush Courtney Jr.; and grandson, William Robert Mason.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Rushelle (Robert) Mason; granddaughters: Laura Lee (Edward) Rakowitz, Ginger (Robert) Christie, Kelly (Thomas) Boyd; grandsons: Christopher (Katie) Courtney, Robert (Sandra) Mason Jr.; great granddaughters: Nicol Mason, Allison (Darin) Krumm, Sara Boyd, Emma Boyd, Karie Ann Randol, Macie Randol, Mattie (Alex) Peach, and Berlyn Courtney; great grandsons: Dylan Russell, Colton Randol, Shawn (Krysti) Mason, and Brendan Courtney; great great grandchildren: Chloe, Eli, and James.
The Family would like to thank Andy and Betty Moghina (and their children) for their loving care of Doris - physical as well as spiritual.
