Sammie "Sandy" Gene Graham
October 29, 1933 – February 27, 2018
This is the life of “Sandy Graham”.
Sandy was born on October 29,1933 in Benjamin Texas to Samuel Gordon and Alta Daniels Smith at the end of the countries great depression. Average cost of a new home was $5,750, cost of gas was 10 cents a gallon and a loaf of bread was 7 cents.
The first doughnut store under the name of Krispy Kreme was opened in Nashville Tennessee in 1933. A bond was formed between Mom and Krispy Kreme, as mom loved Krispy Kreme doughnuts to this date.
Sandy attended school in Seymour and Munday Tx where they resided. She worked as a waitress in Munday. She met Robert Graham on a blind date during 1948. After many dates they married on November 10, 1951 at the prime age of 18 and were married 66 years. They tied the knot right as Granny would say. Shortly after they were married they moved to San Antonio and lived on the Southside of town on a street called West Blvd. They moved around several times before settling down on McDougal Street in their first home. They then moved to Cato Blvd in 1958 and lived there 29 years and then decided to move to the Northside on Townfield from 1987 to 1999. They finally decided they would buy 2 acres and build a home where they reside today in Tamaron Park Subdivision.
Mom loved to work with children and became a teachers aid for SAISD at Huppertz Elementary for 20 years. She also loved to sing and was a member of the choir at Riverside Baptist Church for many years. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert A Graham Sr and three children, Robert, Daniel and Jeanne, Four grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
God called her home on the morning of Feb 27, 2018 after suffering thru a variety of illnesses. Rest in peace Mom.
We love you.
