

He attended Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School and graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in 1965 in Fort Worth. He attained his Ph. D. in Hamburg, Germany. He was a world traveler and adventurer who lived to the fullest. He was a man who prided himself in being able to hold a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and imparting his wisdom with all who would listen. He thoroughly enjoyed his career in law enforcement, being a white-collar crime investigator, and was challenged in his business ventures both domestic and abroad.
He was preceded in death by grandfather, Isaiah Evans Lee (his Daddy); grandmother, Joann Neal Lee (his Momma); grandfather, JT Skinner; biological mother, Shrell “Shirley” Pauline Skinner Jenkins; biological father is of the Veasey/Black clan; sons, Sammy J. Smith, Jr. (1967) and Sammy J. Smith, Jr. (1975); half-siblings, Johnnie Joe Jenkins and Johnnie Mae Jenkins Ayatey.
He is survived by his partner, Susana Ramirez Smith of San Antonio, Texas. His children, Samantha Jenkins, Bonita J. Smith, L. Joann Clinton (Jeffery) and Evans M. Smith (Cherie). His stepchildren, Robert Lozano (Martina), Silvia Smith, and John Lozano (Yesenia). His granddaughter, Autumn R. Clinton; and step-grandchildren, BJ White and Christopher White. His half-brothers, Rouche Jenkins and Andre Jenkins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Porter Loring on McCullough.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sickle Cell Association of Texas- Marc Thomas Foundation.
