

Samuel Daniel Girgus, 77 years of age, entered into eternal life with his Lord on Thursday, October 29, 2009 in his home in San Antonio Texas. Sam's family gathered and was able to say their respective goodbyes.
He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Nicholas and Ksenia Girgus on March 21, 1932. He served his country in the Air Force from 1948 to 1952 in which he participated in the testing of the Atomic Bomb. He then married Lequetta Sue Tacker on September 7, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Sam and Sue returned to his home in New Jersey so Sam could obtain a Bachelors of Electrical Engineering degree from Rutgers University and start a family.
Sam's first position was with ITT as an electrical engineer which afforded him the opportunity to travel the world.
Sam and Sue welcomed three boys into the family during the 21 years they lived in New Jersey. Sam relocated the family to San Antonio, Texas in 1974. Sam was a member of Woodland Baptist Church.
Sam is survived by wife, Sue Girgus of 57 years, sons; Mark Daniel Girgus and wife Carrie, Glen Samuel Girgus, and Todd John Girgus and wife Debra, and four grandchildren; Kyle Girgus, Kaley Gilliam and husband Brad, Brandon Girgus and Cameron Girgus, and first great grandchild, Colton Gilliam. Also survived by his sister, Helen Newsom, brother Mike Girgus, along with numerous nieces and great nieces, and nephews and great nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers; Nicholas, Joseph, Arthur, John, Andrew, Peter, Paul, and sister Mary Gibbons.
