Sandra Grimm Arredondo was born to Mary Agnes and Louis Frank Grimm on November 17, 1949 and left this life on August 17, 2012 at the age of 62. Sandy was born and raised in San Antonio, and was the youngest of five children.
An OLLU alumna, she worked at the Texas Workforce Commission for many years before partnering with her husband in real estate. During these years, Sandy and Jerry started their family, which would include their two beautiful daughters Ashley and Aubrey.
Sandy viewed life, the world, and especially people through a lens that first and foremost saw the very best in everyone and everything. She was a confidant, sounding board, mentor, best friend and second mother to all.
A lifelong student, Sandy was an avid reader who enjoyed writing, exploring, and self-reflection. She was also at peace in nature. Sandy loved the soothing power of water, the feel of the sand between her toes, and she searched constantly for her place in the amazing world around her. More than anything else, Sandy loved her husband and two daughters.
In her passing Sandy was at peace with her life and the legacy she leaves behind.
Sandy is preceded in death by her father Louis Grimm, mother Mary Agnes Grimm, brother Louis Grimm, and sister Sharron Sutton. Sandy is survived by Jerry Arredondo, her husband of 42 years, daughter Aubrey Arredondo, daughter Ashley Arredondo Hilllyer and husband Ryan, sister Cindy Turner and husband Mike, brother Bob Grimm and wife Sandra. Too many to name are the countless nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends that were so much a part of Sandy’s life, and she an integral part of theirs.
Services are scheduled at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Sunday, August 19th at 5 O’clock in the evening. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sandy’s honor to The San Antonio Humane Society, American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
