Sandra Lee Reese Cramer, age 79, passed away peacefully in her home on December 29th, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family. Sandra was born on September 21st, 1942, to her mother, Wanda Wilkey, and her father, Bill Hancock. Her early childhood was spent with her mother in Marlin Texas. Later she lived with her father in San Antonio. Sandy attended MacArthur High School where she developed her talent for performing as a cheerleader and thespian. After graduating MacArthur in 1961, Sandy continued her education at The University of Houston. She graduated UH in 1964 with a double major in Theater and English. Later in her life she earned a Master's degree in Theater at Southwest Texas State University.
Sandy will forever be remembered for her four main passions in life, family, teaching, dancing, and traveling. Always active with an incredible tenacious hard work ethic, she seamlessly made juggling family, career, and hobbies look easy. However, no matter how busy she was, family was her priority. One of Sandy's greatest joys was teaching.
Her extended family were the thousands of students she taught through the years. She began teaching in 1964. Her longest tenure was at Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio Texas where she taught from 1971 to 1998. She truly loved teaching and truly loved her students. After Lee High School, she continued to substitute teach for another 10 years at Hobby Middle School, and Clark High School; altogether, 44 years devoted to her passion for teaching kids.
In the 1980's and 90's Sandy returned to her passion for performing. She began an incredible Ballroom Dancing career with her husband Richard. Together they competed and performed all over the nation, finally winning the National Dance Championships. Sandy devoted hours and hours to this passion and will always be remembered as an elegant, graceful beauty on the dance floor. Without doubt, she was a beautiful butterfly.
Sandy's passion to learn and experience new cultures lead her around the world in amazing adventures. What began as summer vacations with her family to the Grand Canyon and national parks, later led to exotic destinations like China, India, Egypt, all over Europe and many more places. Sandy loved to meet new people from distant lands. Her adventurous spirit was always present throughout her life.
Her legacy lives on through her family. Sandy is survived by her husband Richard Cramer, son Travis Reese, grandson Clayton Reese, and many more relatives whom she loved dearly. She will always be remembered for her caring nature. Sandy inspired so many family members, students, friends, and her inspiration will remain with us forever.
