August 25, 1949 – October 19, 2026
Sandra Jean Talmadge, affectionately known as Sandy, passed away surrounded by family on October 19, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 77.
Born in Oklahoma City, OK, on August 25, 1949, Sandy was the daughter of Lloyd & Bonnie Webb. She grew up alongside her siblings, Laura and Dennis, and graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1967.
Introduced by their mutual friend, Sissy McAllister, Sandy met Jerry Talmadge, whom she married on December 1, 1974, at Portland Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Together, they raised two children, Jeremy and Andrea. After living in Tulsa, Arlington and Portland, Texas, the family settled in San Antonio in 1989. Sandy never entirely surrendered her Oklahoma roots and was quick to remind anyone that she was not originally from Texas.
Sandy was a devoted mother, a fiercely independent woman and a perfectionist in nearly every sense of the word. She believed in hard work, taking pride in what she did and doing things properly, which generally meant doing them her way. Her home was immaculate, her yard meticulously maintained and her Christmas decorations belonged in a magazine.
After dedicating her early years to raising her children, Sandy worked in retail before establishing her own residential cleaning business, which she operated independently for approximately 15 years. She developed lasting relationships with her clients, who appreciated her work ethic and personality. During the pandemic, one family missed her so much that they named their Roomba vacuum ”Sandy." She was honored.
Sandy loved shopping, tending to her yard and caring for animals. She patiently spent months teaching the squirrels in her backyard to eat from her hand, beginning with one she named Harriet. She was rarely seen without her hair and makeup perfectly done, her favorite jewelry and her trademark white shirt, blue jeans and flip-flops.
Though generally soft-spoken and reserved, Sandy possessed a dry wit and was never afraid to offer an opinion to those who knew her best. She expressed her love through words and thoughtful gestures, whether finding the perfect gift or making certain that everyone, even the dogs, had something under the Christmas tree.
Her Christian faith was central to her life. Raised Baptist, Sandy attended Cornerstone Church in San Antonio for more than three decades. She regularly read her Bible, prayed and reflected deeply on scripture. Even during her illness, her handwritten prayers expressed her desire for more time with her family and more opportunities to serve God.
Sandy leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, independence, faith and devotion to family. She taught her children the value of hard work and the importance of standing on their own two feet.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jerry Talmadge; her son, Jeremy Talmadge, and his wife, Holly; her daughter, Andrea Holland, and her husband, Luke; her granddaughter, Dylan Talmadge; her sister, Laura Erwin; her brother, Dennis Webb, and his wife, Debbie; and her lifelong friend, Sissy McAllister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Webb and Bonnie Hill, and her stepfather, Garland Shaffer.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas.
