Our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Santiago “Jim” Delgado, passed away on Tuesday November 26, 2024, born in San Antonio, Texas on March 31, 1941. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Cardona; stepfather, Eusebio Cardona; brothers, Manual (Beatrice) Zuniga and Raul Cardona. He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Ann Vernon, Diana Dee (Joseph) Molina, and Delilah Dolores (Bobby) Bradley; grandchildren, Bryan Castro, Rudy Molina, Matthew (Selena) Molina, Bianca (Eliseo) Zavala, Victoria Molina, and Zachry Bradley; great-grandchildren, Gavin Castro, Isabela Castro, Adelina Molina, and Aria Zavala; brother, Richard (Leticia) Cardona; sisters, Margie (Charlie) Lopez, Mary Elena Moncado, Hope (Richard) Valadez, and Aurora Cardona; and his numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends
Jim was a military veteran, having served his country in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed many years of long-haul truck driving. Jim suffered from colon cancer for seven years. Nevertheless, he enjoyed family gatherings, fine dining, going to the movies and watching his family grow.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Esplanade Gardens Senior living center in Converse Texas as well as the staff and doctors at the Veterans Administration for the care and friendship they showed Jim during his battle with cancer.
A memorial service and mass will be held to honor the remarkable life of Santiago “Jim” Delgado. Military honors will be rendered in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., followed by a rosary, mass, and reception at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 102 Lorenz Rd.
