Born on April 10, 1949 in Traverse City, MI, she was the only daughter of Fred and Mary Peyton. The family moved to Odessa, Texas when she was a young girl and she grew up there with her three brothers: Fred, Tommy, and Mark and their family business “Peyton’s Hobby Center .”
Sara was married to her husband Mike for 55 years and they raised their two children – Erin and Michael - in San Antonio. She was a busy devoted wife and mother. The family also had a home at Lake LBJ in Kingsland, TX which was Sara’s favorite place to spend time. She loved to have a house full of family and friends – everyone was welcome at the lake house. There was always lots of cooking, playing cards and games, music, and laughter. Sara enjoyed time with her girlfriends, she was part of many organizations and clubs and loved to entertain at her homes. After Sara became “Nana” to Peyton and Lexi, she cherished being a wonderful grandmother. She loved to plan arts and crafts, sew costumes, go shopping, and of course cook with them. Sara had a long battle with a rare neurological disease called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy “PSP” that ended her life too soon.
She is survived by her husband Mike Dwyer; her daughter Erin Dwyer Bley, and her partner Patrick Shearer; her son Michael Dwyer; her granddaughters Peyton and Lexi Bley; her brother Mark and wife Cindy Peyton; and her brother Tommy and wife Kathleen Peyton; and their beloved dog Macie. She is also survived by her large extended family on the Dwyer side.
A Celebration of Life service and reception will be held on March 20, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, at 11:00 AM.
