Sara Lawrence King

Sara Lawrence King nee McGehee , aged 86, passed away on June 19, 2008 from complications of Alzheimer's. Born October 21, 1921 in St. Louis, MO. She moved with her family to San Antonio in the late 1920's. After graduation from Brackenridge High School in 1938, she attended Beauty School. Sara, a professional manicurist for over 40 years, worked at Maurice's Hair Fashion Salon until it closed and then at "New Images". She cared for the fingers and toes of her customers, many of whom became her friends. Sara became their confidant keeping their secrets, commiserating with them at bad times, and laughing with them in good times.

Sara had a great sense of style, always impeccably attired whatever the occasion. Her beautiful spirit always shone.

Sara leaves behind her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl "Sherry" and Lee Shaw. Survivors include sister, Corinne McGehee Addison; sister-in-law, Lanora McGehee; nieces, Suzanne Rohrig and Melanie Blackburn; nephews, Steven L. Doumit and Charles D. McGhee III, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Her family wishes to thank the staff of Clare Bridge Assisted Living for their gentle and tender care.

At Sara's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
