Sara was a product of the San Antonio Independent School District and graduated from Luther Burbank High School in 1979, where she was a Cheerleader, Orange Jacket, and FFA member. From the Southside of San Antonio—where she currently resided on Hearne Ave.—she grew into a remarkably talented artist and graphic designer, carrying forward a natural gift she inherited from her father, Robert. With steady dedication to her craft, she earned her B.F.A. Degree from North Texas State University and built a career defined by imagination, precision, and a deep sense of purpose.
Sara prospered and succeeded for years at The San Antonio Light Newspaper in Communications, Promotions and Public Relations, then served as Marketing Coordinator for Bartlett Cocke General Contractors, followed by her tenure at Our Lady of the Lake University as Director of Public Relations and Director of Publications. Her work earned recognition from The Association of Women in Communications and The Public Relations Society of San Antonio, and she was a recipient of The Texas Graphic Excellence Award.
For the last 22 years at Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children, Sara took great pride in shaping the school’s public image through her art—designing their logo, website, brochures, newsletters, holiday cards, and all marketing materials. Her passion was evident in every piece she created, and her care for the children at Sunshine Cottage remained at the heart of her work. As shared by those who knew her contributions well, “Sara's creativity, commitment and belief in our mission helped strengthen Sunshine Cottage and touched the lives of many students, parents, colleagues, donors and community partners.”
With faith as a source of comfort, the family shares: “Our heavy hearts are now lightened and lifted, knowing Sara is now in Paradise with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Gratitude is extended to all who honor and remember Sara’s life. “Thank you for celebrating Sara's full life… In Jesus' Holy Name, we continue to pray, Amen.”
