Sarah L. Marcus

Sarah L. Marcus age 95, passed away August 20, 2006. She was born in Galveston, TX on October 6, 1910 and was the eldest surviving child of Frieda and Wolf Landesman.

She graduated as salutatorian of her class at Ball High School in 1926. She moved to San Antonio in 1936 after her marriage to Martin L.

Marcus and lived here until 2003. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Marcus had a career as a civil servant. She was employed in the accounting division at Kelly AFB where she was honored with many awards for designing innovative and more efficient procedures.

A dedicated volunteer, Mrs. Marcus was a life long member of Hadassah and served as chapter president.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin L. Marcus in 1973; brother, Harry Landesman; and sister, Esther Baron.

Survivors: daughter, Judith C. Marcus and husband, Richard S. Epstein, Potomac, MD; son, Maurice Marcus and wife, Nancy, Winnetka, IL; granddaughter, Lindsey Marcus, Chicago, IL; grandson, Daniel Marcus, San Francisco, CA; sisters, Eva Dubin and husband, Sylvan, Houston, TX, and Adele and husband, Irving Reichel, Dallas, TX; many beloved nieces and nephews.
