

Born May 13, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, Scott was a lifelong Texan known for his big heart, love of people, sense of humor, and ability to enjoy life wherever he went.
Scott leaves a legacy of love through his wife, Katie, with whom he shared more than 58 years. He is also survived by his sons, Shayne (Amy) and Cody (Holly); his grandchildren, Dylan, Connor, Cassidy, and Colton; his brother, Mark “Randy” (Elaine); his brothers- and sisters-in-law, David and Glenda Keck, Eddy and Brenda McIlhany, Randy and Susan Fewell, and Marlene Fewell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends whom he considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.A. and Elvira McBrearty.
Scott graduated from Highland High School in 1965, and his classmates remained close friends throughout his life.
Scott spent more than 38 years with AT&T. After retiring, he worked at Grande Ford, where he continued to build meaningful relationships with colleagues.
Scott loved many outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, and snow skiing, but most of all he enjoyed running. An accomplished runner, he participated in the New Braunfels Running Club and the San Antonio Roadrunners and completed 19 marathons, including Boston, Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, as well as numerous half marathons. As a member of the San Antonio Parrot Head Club, he supported numerous community service efforts and coordinated the group’s activities with the San Antonio Food Bank. He also belonged to the Lakeside Horseshoe Pitching Club, competing in local and state tournaments and placing third in his division at the NHPA World Horseshoe Championship. Scott was deeply involved with the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, which became an important part of his life. His commitment to SALE spanned more than 40 years of volunteer service and earned him the honorary distinction of Director Emeritus. He was a faithful member of North Rock Church, where he enjoyed hearing the word of God and serving the congregation.
Those who knew Scott will remember his warm smile, lively stories, sense of humor, and gift for making everyone feel included. Above all, they will remember his deep love for Katie, whom he affectionately called “Sweetie.”
Scott’s true legacy lives on in the people he loved and the many lives he touched. He was a role model who worked hard, played hard, and loved fiercely, always leading by example.
Scott will be deeply missed and forever carried in the hearts of his family and friends.
