Secilie G.Piekos, age 82, passed away on Thursday September 17, 2026 at Heart to Heart Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Antonio TX., on July 4, 1944, to Weldon V. Glaeser and Addline Lowrance Glaeser. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 58 ½ years, Joseph Piekos; and her son Eric Piekos.
Secilie is survived by her daughter Caroline Robison and her husband, Mike; her beloved grandson, Hunter Farias; her brother-n-law Frank Piekos and his wife Resa; her sister-n-law Linda Piekos; and her nieces and nephews: Melissa Ruehl, Michael Piekos, Lori Granata, Raymond (Chip) Piekos, Kari Gicquere and their families; and many loving aunts and uncles.
Secilie attended Southwest Texas University for three years and graduated early with a Bachelors degree in Psychology in 1963 hoping to be a Social Worker. Because she was only nineteen no one would hire her so she went on to become a teacher for the Edgewood Independent School District for thirty years. She taught at Loma Park Elementary School and Joseph M. Guerra Elementary School and was a resource teacher for both schools as well. During her time at SWTU, she met her husband Joseph Piekos. He had just completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base. They went on a blind date with another couple and from there it was love at first sight. They would write each other letters during his time in the military and Joe would visit Secilie any chance he had. They were happily married on July 3,1964. Secilie loved teaching kids and was an advocate for underprivileged children. Whether it was spending extra time tutoring them, making sure they had clothing, or being asked to testify in court, she always did her best to make sure she was there for her students.
She and Joe dedicated their lives to helping others. They were Stephen Ministers at Colonial Hills United Methodist Church. They were also very active in the Emmaus Community and involved in vacation bible school for many years. They were both in charge of the Family Fiesta at CHUMC for a few years and she and Joe helped take communion to church members who could no longer attend services. Secilie was a part of an ongoing prayer group that would meet once a week to pray for whomever the requests were for, whether they were church members or not.
Secilie was a loving wife and mother. She never wavered in her christian Faith and always set a good example for her children and grandchild Hunter. Both Secilie and Joe were very close to Hunter and took care of him frequently when Caroline was at work. They volunteered at Hunters schools and they attended any and every event from his karate tournaments to his performances in choir and his basketball games. Secilie taught Hunter how important it was to be kind to others. She would always make birthday cards, mother day cards and anniversary cards from Hunter to me as well as to whomever needed a reminder that they were a child of God and were thought of on a regular basis. Both Secilie and Joe took Hunter to church as a baby and throughout his childhood to make sure he had a relationship with our Lord and Savior. Secilie was always writing little notes of encouragement to Hunter throughout his college career and would write scriptures on them and give him books with daily devotionals to help him through challenging times and to remind him with God all things are possible.
Words can not describe how much she was loved and cherished. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She will live on in our hearts and minds forever.
