

Seong Hui Pluguez, known lovingly by her baptismal name Christina Matilda to her friends, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on March 14, 1958, in Taegu, Korea, to her parents Hye-Sun Kim and Yong-deuk Park, Seong Hui carried her Korean heritage with her in everything she did.
A woman of vibrant spirit, she had a deep love for Korean drums and traditional dance, often participating in these activities with friends, bringing joy and life to every gathering. Her faith was central to her life, and she was a devoted member of Korean Martyrs Catholic Church in Boerne, Texas, where she was an integral part of the church community. She was the recipient of the Lumen Gentium award, recognizing her participation in and understanding of the Catholic Church’s mission, and her efforts to use her talents to deepen the lives of the parish.
Seong Hui was known for her kindness, always willing to help others, especially her friends and family. She was the heart of her family, inspiring and motivating her loved ones to pursue their dreams. Seong Hui was particularly proud of her husband and four sons, who loved her with passion. She was the driving force behind their pursuit of education and success, and each one of them achieved greatness, as she always believed they would. Her unwavering support encouraged them to rise above challenges, and their accomplishments brought her immense joy.
In addition to being a cherished wife and mother, Seong Hui was a devoted grandmother to 10 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 4 great-grandchildren. Her family continues to honor her legacy by striving for success, always keeping her belief in their potential close to heart.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jose M. Pluguez; sons, Jose M. Pluguez, Jr., Juan M. Pluguez, Luis R. Pluguez, and Paul M. Pluguez; her sisters, Tae-won Park and Shin-young Park; her brothers, Joo-hyung Park and Do-hyung Park; niece, Eunbi Park; nephew, Jeong-min Park; and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her warmth, dedication, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
