On March 11, 2021, the soul of Seth Cole Hughes found eternal peace, he was 34 years. He called San Antonio home but he was born in Hanford, California on October 22, 1986 to Jerry Henson and Deborah Hughes.

Seth had an amazing carrier in the United States Navy, serving not only his country but his fellow servicemen as a FMF Corpsman. A job that is not for the faint of heart. He earned such decorations and citations as the combat action ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, National Defense Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and a Marksmanship Pistol Shot Ribbon to name a few. After his navy career he began his own business, working in entertainment as a DJ and event coordinator. Which he had such a passion for and drive for this work and his vibrant personality made him a success in the industry.

But spending time with his family and friends filled with food, laughter, and music brought Seth the greatest pleasure. He also enjoyed spending time in the gym and working out, but his greatest love was the time he spent with his amazing little girl. Earning him the most amazing father in the world award!

He leaves behind his wife, daughter, mother, fathers, sisters, brothers and so so many friends to cherish all the wonderful memories they have created with him and to support each other thru this difficult time.

Though the loss of Seth is felt by so many, we take comfort that he has finally reunited with his service dog Pumkin, his aunt, grandfather and all of his fallen comrades.

A funeral service will be held on April 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX, 78238. A private family committal service will be held on April 13, 2021 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Hughes family.

Doc Hughes,
My heart is broken for you and your family's loss. I hope you find peace wherever it is you have gone.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.

Till Valhalla my brother in arms.

Seth (and Eva and Emma) opened their home to me for a wonderful month in the summer of 2019. We shared the dog days of summer together. A place where I was a complete stranger and by the end, was welcomed like family. What a wonderful father to Emma, I so very much enjoyed the “princess and prince” game they played, among many many others. Praying for you.

Joseph Poquiz

March 25, 2021

Whomever gets this, my name is Joseph Poquiz. Former Corpsman that served side by side with Doc Hughes in Iraq. I would like to know whom is officiating the the funeral. Seth has had me pray with him before. and I would like to be there once more for him before he's laid down. I would like to be the one that officiates this and close in prayer.
