It is so hard to believe that you have been with the Lord for 4 years. You are missed so much everyday. Your bright light lives on in Parker, I can only imagine that he has your smile, since he is his mothers child. I know you his angel as along with looking over your parents, brother and sister-in-law. One day I know we will be reunited with you, now you have some more family in heaven. You were the sunshine to so many people and during the time we all had we learned to be more loving to animals and people.

Happy Birthday our sweet angel. It is hard to believe that you are no longer with us but you will never be forgotten. Your smile and energy will live thru Parker. Sweet Shanna, you will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Shanna talked to me on the phone for over an hour and I was a perfect stranger to her. I called her about 18 months ago regarding the whole concept of rescue dogs. She was so friendly and knowledgeable and willing to do whatever it took to help me rescue a dog. I got my little CoCo and Shanna and I remained FB friends. In following her, I could see what an amazing couple she and RJ were. They were so happy and successful and had it ALL, when Parker joined their family. I just want, whoever reads this, to know that Shanna got me into dog rescue. I have been working on my first surrender/adopton, and I am loving this. Today, the day you buried Shanna, is the day I got the call that the air transport is going to happen. In spirit, Shanna rescued another dog today, and managed to get the dog from Texas to Oregon. Shanna leaves an incredible legacy in her short life. She made a difference in my life. I am so sorry for your loss RJ, Parker, Reyes and Rice families. Shanna will be missed; may she rest in peace.

I am so sorry for your terrible loss. This is an especially difficult time to find comfort from anywhere. I hope you find comfort in what Our Creator promises. He promises we will soon see our loved ones again in paradise on earth. Please try to find a little time to consider the warm thoughts for you from the God of all comfort at Isaiah 25:8, 9; Acts 24:15 and Revelation 21:3, 4.

RIP Shanna. The world will most definitely miss such a kind and caring person.

I only met Shanna a couple of times, but I felt like I knew her for years. She had a special way of making people feel that. She came to my house to see a little dog I had for adoption; she was looking for a dog for her Nana. We talked like old friends, her telling me stories about her Nana being a retired nurse (I am a nurse) and showing me pictures of her sweet pups. By the time she left, we were talking and hugging like old friends. By reading the posts left, I see that she made everyone feel that way. A very sad day for her family and friends, the rescue community of San Antonio, and we as inhabitants of planet earth; a beautiful, sweet, gentle soul who put everyone before herself is gone. God Bless her memory and hold her family in his arms.

You are so beautiful, loving, compassionate, and kind. You will be greatly missed on this earth. Rest in peace sweet girl! Prayers to all family and friends. Love you all!

Thank you Shanna, for all that you did and all that you gave to rescue.... I dedicate this to you... "Rescue Rainbow Bridge Poem" (Author Unknown) Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All of the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before. But the animals who had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway leading to The Bridge to watch. It wasn't long before an elderly animal came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the ones who had been there for a while, knew what his story was right away, for they had seen this happen far too often. He approached slowly, obviously in great emotional pain, but with no sign of injury or illness. Unlike all of the other animals waiting at The Bridge, this animal had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again. As he walked toward The Bridge, he watched all of the other animals watching him. He knew he was out of place here and the sooner he could cross over, the happier he would be. But, alas, as he approached The Bridge, his way was barred by the appearance of an Angel who apologized, but told him that he would not be able to pass. Only those animals who were with their people could pass over Rainbow Bridge. With no place else to turn to, the elderly animal turned towards the fields before The Bridge and saw a group of other animals like himself, also elderly and infirm. They weren't playing, but rather simply lying on the green grass, forlornly staring out at the pathway leading to The Bridge. And so, he took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting. One of the newest arrivals at The Bridge didn't understand what he had just witnessed and asked one of the animals that had been there for a while to explain it to him. You see, that poor animal was a rescue. He was turned in to rescue just as you see him now, an older animal with his fur graying and his eyes clouding. He never made it out of rescue and passed on with only the love of his rescuer to comfort him as he left his earthly existence. Because he had no family to give his love to, he has no one to escort him across The Bridge. The first animal thought about this for a minute and then asked, "So what will happen now?" As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted and the gloom lifted. Approaching The Bridge could be seen a single person and among the older animals, a whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light and they were all young and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of life. "Watch, and see" said the second animal. A second group of animals from those waiting came to the pathway and bowed low as the person neared. At each bowed head, the person offered a pat on the head or a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell into line and followed him towards The Bridge. They all crossed The Bridge together. "What happened?" "That was a rescuer." The animals you saw bowing in respect were those who found new homes because of his work. They will cross when their new families arrive. Those you saw restored were those who never found homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed to perform one, final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort those poor animals that they couldn't place on earth, across The Rainbow Bridge. "I think I like rescuers," said the first animal. "So does GOD," was the reply.

When our son lost his dog, Shanna was the first person to provide advice on how to find him; and weeks later, he was found several miles from home. One day a personal delivery was made to our home of a tin container filled with homemade cookies. On the container was a bow and card showing the cookies were sent from Shanna and RJ. Those are a couple examples of how thoughtful and caring Shanna was. Her sudden departure from us will always be sorrowful. Her thoughtful and caring nature will always be missed.
