
Shari Sherman, born March 1, 1962, passed away on March 27, 2002 after a long and courageous battle against AIDS. Shari was a ray of sunshine to all who knew her. Shari was a graduate of Churchill High School in San Antonio and St. Edwards University in Austin. She was named Teacher of the Year at Colonial Hills Elementary School and was, at the time of her death, employed as the Personnel Specialist for North East Independent School District. She was predeceased by her grandfathers, Fred Sherman and Lou Cohen, and was one of the "dirty dozen" grandchildren of the late Ann and Morry Beldon. Shari is survived by her parents, Nancy and Steve Sherman; her grandmother, Ruth Cohen Omaha, NE; her siblings, Lisa and Martin Perkins Denver, CO, Fredric Sherman Washington, DC and Mardi and Joseph Smith of San Antonio; nieces and nephews, Matthew Perkins, Morgan Perkins, Layne Perkins, Lindsay Smith, Casie Smith, Cory Smith and Blake Smith. Shari is also survived by aunts and uncles, Dr. Eleanor Komet and Dr. Harvey Komet, Louise and Michael Beldon, Suzie and Ray Somberg, and Marty Sophir, as well as her first cousins, Lauri and Dr. Mark Porter, David Komet, Leslie and Adam Ausburn, Melissa and Dr. Eric Rindler, Bradford and Susan Beldon, Allison and Danny Kustoff, Jennifer and James Rosenblatt, Jonathan and Maria Beldon, Mike Sophir, Marcie and Mike Klein and John and Suzanne Sophir, and all their 26 children. Special thanks to all her wonderful co-workers at North East ISD Central Office who have been so caring and loving as Shari fought valiantly against this horrible disease for over 13 years. Thanks also to her doctors, Kimberly Heller, Jenny Sprute, Lynne Diamond and Carl Berkowitz. Their care and concern helped her survive many crises over the years and extended her life well beyond expectations.
