Sharon Frances Laechelin Armand, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 after a brief illness. Sharon was born on September 10, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas, the oldest of three girls born to Frances Burgstaller Laechelin and Dalton Frank Laechelin. She graduated from LaVega High School, Waco, Texas in 1957. There she began a career in customer service at Lone Star Gas Company.
Sharon moved to Arlington, Texas and worked for First City Bank. She spent many years traveling and spending time with family, which was very important to her. Her nieces and nephews brought her much joy and she was always very generous with gift giving. Wherever she lived, she would always have the most beautiful flower gardens. Weekends were spent planting flowers, cooking and watching the Dallas Cowboys during football season. Sharon became friends with a customer who introduced her to M.L. Armand and they married in 1996. They moved to the Texas Hill Country where they lived until he passed away and she returned to Arlington, Texas to be close to family. Her last move was to a retirement community where she became a favorite neighbor, hosting afternoon wine gatherings where there was always a lot of laughter. Sharon was a devoted friend to many.
Her parents and husband, and her sister Karon Roberta Wachsmann preceded Sharon in death.
She is survived by her sister Helen Beth Wells (husband Tommy) brother-in-law George Wachsmann, and six nieces and nephews – Bubba Schafer (wife Michelle), Terri Chapa (husband Robert), Todd Wachsmann (wife Starla), Shannon McClellan (husband Mike), Christi Esquivel (husband Sam), Trey Owen (wife Jody). As the great and great-great nieces and nephews were born, they gave her the beloved name, Sha Sha.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 10, 2023 at San Fernando Cemetery III, 1735 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78226. A reception will follow at the home of Sam and Christi Esquivel, 9519 Nona Kay Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78217.

Community Hospice is one of the few non-profit hospice care organizations in Texas and we are grateful for the care they gave Sharon. A special thank you to her neighbors at the Village of Johnson Creek. You honored her friendship with great compassion and care.
