Sharon Kay (Singleton) (Moffett) Calvert was born on September 17, 1954 in San Antonio, Texas to Ray Singleton Sr. and Mary Helen Singleton. She passed away on January 30, 2022 at the age of 67. She is survived by her children, Mary Anne (Moffett) Jones (Bart), Thomas Moffett Jr., and stepdaughter Kathryn Calvert Huston (Curtis), grandchildren, Matthew Miller, Haylie Moffett, William Jones. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Helen Singleton, her brothers, Ray Singleton Jr. (Linda), and Harold Singleton (Jenny), numerous nieces and nephews, along with her beloved dogs, Lucy and Lola.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvert, her infant daughter Tracy Lynn Moffett, and her father, Ray Singleton Sr.
Sharon wanted everyone to know that as a child she survived the relentless tormenting of her older brothers and as a result learned how to “stick-up” for herself. Graduating in 1972 from Douglas MacArthur high school in San Antonio, she married Thomas Moffett Sr. and thus escaped her evil brothers. Following high school, she began a life-long career at HEB that spanned over 40 years. She worked at a number of HEB stores in the San Antonio area where she established many friendships. She loved animals, the Spurs, shopping, finding remodeling projects, playing games on her computer, loved music of all kinds, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Oh!! In actuality, she loved her brothers.
Sharon will always be remembered for her selfless sacrifice and attention to her mother’s care and a good heart as big as the world! No one who knew her will forget her quick wit, her sharp tongue and, unconsciously quoting her father, allowing his criticisms and rebukes to spill out of her mouth unexpectedly
A Reception will be held March 1, 2022 beginning at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. During the Reception, a Celebration of Life Remembrance will begin at 7:00 PM and continue until 8:00 PM. The events will be held at the Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 1701 Austin Highway in San Antonio, Tx. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the San Antonio Humane Society at 4804 Fredericksburg Road, San Antonio, TX 78229.
