Sharon Irene Dolan née Siden, born and raised in San Antonio, died May 31, 2016. She was born March 31, 1928 to Mary Eugenia Pugh and Alfred H. Siden, who owned Siden’s Café at Five Points. She married William Joseph Dolan, at age 20, then was widowed in 1956. They had seven wonderful years together and three children who survive them: Dianna Marsh, Eileen Dolan, and Kevin Dolan.
After her husband’s death Irene returned to college at Our Lady of the Lake completing a Bachelor’s of Art Education then began teaching at St. Martin’s Hall Elementary school. While there she taught 3rd, 5th, and 7TH grades and achieved a Master’s Degree in Education. From there she went on to work at the Defense Language Institute at Lackland Air Force Base. Irene, or Nonnie as she was called by her 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, retired after 20 years of service but not before she was finally able to do as much worldwide travel as possible. She was a strong accomplished Texas woman and rose to most every challenge life put before her. She will be sorely missed.
A rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel.
