A native San Antonian, Sharon was happiest at home with her husband of 40 years, Malcolm Halbardier and their five cats, as well as those animals that wandered to her door. She enjoyed working alongside her husband in his legal practice. Along with her husband, Sharon loved everything about the outdoors including hunting, fishing, and boating, as well as living several years in Port Aransas, Texas. She became quite the expert in deep sea fishing, including winning the Texas Women Angler’s Tournament. Sharon was also a creative cook who enjoyed trying new recipes. In addition to being known for her baking and cooking, especially the seafood they enjoyed catching, she was an avid reader, loved to garden, play games, and watch the Dallas Cowboys. Some of her favorite times were sitting around the table after a wonderful meal, playing games with family, and watching football on Sundays. Her house was a gathering place for family and friends, where everyone felt welcome.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward Menck and Anita Grace Mowry Menck. In addition to her husband, Sharon is survived by her sister, Cara Menck Mahan (Steve) and brother, James Walter Menck (Sabrina); five nieces, Kristen Hahn (Stephen), Katie Hahn, Mary Chambless (Ryan), Sarah Mahan, and Colby Menck, and one nephew, Jackson Menck, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
