It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Shelley Georges on Friday, May 23rd, 2025. A woman of immense warmth and compassion, Shelley was deeply cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
A graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Shelley initially pursued higher education at Trinity University. However, recognizing her innate desire to care for others, she embraced her true calling and dedicated herself to the field of nursing. She earned her degree from Baylor University and embarked on a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse. Shelley devoted her professional life to the well-being of others, serving with dedication and empathy in the Children’s Surgical Unit and various Units at Christus Hospital and later providing compassionate care to patients and their families at Vitas Hospice for many meaningful years.
Born on July 5, 1960, in San Antonio, Texas, Shelley was the beloved daughter of James (Jim) Peeler and Claudette McAnneny Peeler. Her life was further enriched by the joys of motherhood. She married Michael Smith, and together they were blessed with two remarkable sons, Connor James Smith, born in 1990, and Cody Robert Smith, born in 1996. Later in life, she married Tom Georges.
Shelley was preceded in death by her father, Jim Peeler, and her former father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Ruth Smith. She is survived by her loving sons, Connor and Cody; her devoted mother, Claudette; her sister, LaVon Atkinson, and brother-in-law, Ronnie; and her cherished nieces: Shana Ramirez (Philip), Tiffany McBride (Zachary), and Lacey Adam (Brian).
Shelley's departure leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of her family and friends. Her gentle nature, caring spirit, and the love she so freely gave will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, with a service to follow at 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice in Shelley's honor, allowing her legacy of compassion to continue.
