Sheri Turner passed away at 2:20 PM Friday October 1, 2021.
Sheri was comfortable in who she was. Regardless of the decade she could often be found wearing tie-dye t-shirts and drinking Big Red. She didn’t care if it was in vogue or not. Sheri did not wait to grow up to become who she was. As a child she was determined, out-spoken and confident. As an adult she was determined, out-spoken and confident.
Sheri loved her family both close and extended. Like her parents, Rosemary and Tony, she was generous with her time. She did not pass up an opportunity to visit with family and friends at weddings and gatherings.
Sheri would gather with her mother and sisters, Janna and Toni Marie, to bake Christmas treats to share with family and friends. After her mother, Rosemary, passed away, Sheri continued this tradition with her sisters.
Once Sheri set her mind on something, she was determined to see it through. She decided to save money from her parents’ birthdays gifts and other events to pay for her father’s retirement party at Los Patios. She loved to spend time with her father and they traveled to many places together. They were close friends.
She loved her two nephews, Turner and Trevor, and enjoyed spending time with them. She took them on many trips and gave them many opportunities to experience new things.
Sheri helped her father host many BMC Reunions over the years. She always supported the BMC Reunion efforts and often you would see her greeting attendees and collecting money at the registration table.
Sheri had a computer science degree and was a programmer who wrote code to stress test software programs used by multinational corporations in order to find weaknesses. Corporations sent her all over the world because of her unique expertise.
Sheri thrived in a world that does not easily welcome women. She often suffered the condescension of less capable male co-workers. Not surprisingly, she let them know what she thought of their behavior and what they could do with their biases. Then she cleaned up their programming messes.
Sheri was a fearless world traveler. Each year she would gather with likeminded vacationers to visit different countries in the world. She would often bring home special treats for others when she traveled.
Sheri lived life to the fullest. She made many friends along the way and enjoyed so many adventures.
Sheri will be dearly missed.
