Sherri McCurley Wollmershauser, 57, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away August 10th, 2021, at North Central Baptist Hospital. Born on December 06, 1963, in Satsuma, Alabama, to parents Millard Glen (Mac) and Zephia O’dell (Jackie) Kitchens McCurley. She was the youngest of 8 children. Sadly, Sherri passed after a long hard-fought battle with the Delta variant of Covid-19.
Sherri graduated high school in 1981 from Loyd Star High School in Brookhaven, Mississippi. After graduating, she moved to Ponchatoula, Louisiana, where she began a 10-year career in the cable television industry. It was during this time, in 1993, that she met and fell in love with the love of her life and soulmate, her husband of 25 years, Steven (Steve) Michael Wollmershauser. Together they shared a life, and a love, deeply rooted in their faith, their friendship, and their family. Sherri and Steve were blessed with two sons, Derek, and Dylan. Her family, along with her faith, were the most precious and important parts of her life. She dedicated herself to conducting her life, keeping her home, and raising her family under the constant guidance and blessing of the Lord. She never wavered in her beliefs nor faltered in her duties as a devoutly Christian woman, dedicated wife, devoted mother, beloved family member and faithful friend.
Sherri loved life and she loved people. Her heart was always open and incredibly big. She found joy in helping others without expectation of anything in return. Her motivation was simply the joy and satisfaction that came from each and every opportunity to give of her time, her leadership, her unconditional love and friendship. Sherri was full of the Lord’s loving kindness and never missed a chance to share it with everyone she met.
Sherri was infectiously happy and had a smile and laugh as big as her heart. She loved making people laugh, as much as she loved laughing with them. She enjoyed engaging in life. Her outgoing and bubbly personality drew people to her instantly. She touched lives and made lasting impressions and precious memories. She made friends easily because of the warm and genuine nature that radiated from within her heart and soul. This made every encounter, friendship and relationship with her look and feel so very effortless and easy, never fake, and never forced. Sherri met life head on with a graceful determination to savor every moment.
Moments were not the only thing she savored. She had a love for cooking, and you could taste that love in every bite. She took immense pleasure from cooking for her family and friends, and they took immense pleasure from her cooking! Sherri also had a love for arts and crafts. She took boundless joy in creating little treasures for every occasion. She put so much of herself, her joy, and her unconditional love into each of her creations. There was simply no denying her talents. Sherri was excellent at everything she did for her family and for her friends. She took great joy in spending time with others and created joy in every situation and place she encountered. Aside from her family, Sherri’s greatest joy was spending time at their condo at the beach. It was her place of peace and relaxation. The day they finalized the purchase of the condo had not only fulfilled a lifelong dream of hers, but it had also achieved one of her longest sought-after goals and filled her with a happiness that she was eager to share with everyone.
Although, according to Sherri, her greatest achievement and her ultimate goals had all been fulfilled long ago through the deep love that was found in her home and upon which her home was founded. Her deep love for her family was the source of her strength and her confidence to face any challenge that life put in front of her. She took great care in putting in great amounts of love, patience and understanding into nurturing her marriage of 25 years and in guiding her boys as they grew into the wonderful young men they are today. She did this all by constantly seeking council through prayer and communing with the Lord. She turned her life, her relationships, and the lives of her family over to Him and in so doing, He showered blessings upon His most precious daughter. Sherri gave so much to so many so selflessly. She lived her life in a manner befitting the wings that she unquestionably wears today. She will be deeply missed, as she was deeply loved by all who knew her. We love you Sherri.
