

Shirley Adamek of San Antonio, Texas, went to be with her Lord on October 15, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, James (Jim) Adamek in June of 2015 and her daughter, Nancy Roten in May of 2011. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Renette Ticer and husband, Ken; grandson, Brant Romero and wife, Kelly and daughters, Maya and Riley; grandson, Greg Romero and wife, Nicole and daughters, Chloe and Rilyn; grandson, Randy Sonnen and wife Wendy and grandson, Darren Ticer and wife, Tricia. She is also survived by her brother, David Schweitzer and wife, Idy.
Born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, the family moved to San Antonio, Texas, when she was five years old. Shirley graduated with honors from Trinity University in June of 1948 and married Jim Adamek July 16, 1948. They were married almost 67 years until his death. She taught business at Sam Houston High School from 1963 until her retirement in 1983. Involved in her church in different activities during the years, she used her beautiful soprano voice as part of the choir as well as to sing solos. She spent her free time hand quilting, doing crafts, reading and traveling. She loved her family and was affectionately known to her grandsons and great granddaughters as Oma. She will be remembered as a woman of strength, practical wisdom, quick wit and clever sayings.
