While in college at UC Berkley, she met a handsome Army officer, Morry Barasch, who would become her husband.
They married and moved to San Antonio, where they lived for more than 60 years. During that time, she was active in the Jewish community as a member of the Congregation Agudas Achim Sisterhood, Hadassah, and B'nai Brith Women.
She was also a teacher, working in the San Antonio Independent School District for 22 years.
She was a gifted poet and was often asked by her friends to create tributes for special occasions.
Shirley was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Morry Barasch.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Gretchen Bay; children: Joan Barasch, Cliff and Anita Corenblith; Dick and Connie Sullivan; grandchildren: Emily Corenblith, Amy Corenblith and fianc Israel Beer, Brendan and Michael Sullivan; Jonathan and Julia Youssefnia; cousin, Hy Marcus; and many dear friends.
