

Shirley graduated from Alamo Heights High School and went on to work as one of thefirst stewardesses for the former Pan Am Airways. She graduated from the University of St.Thomas in Houston in 1962. She earned her Masters in Education from Trinity University in 1968.
Shirley taught school in Houston at St. Agnes Catholic school. She later worked in Special Education for Edgewood I.S.D. She then went to work for the Community Guidance Center on Woodlawn Avenue, San Antonio. She worked with the future Texas Secretary of State, Hope Andrade. Her last position was as Assistant to the Director of the San Antonio Children's Center, now known as the Clarity Child Guidance Center. Shirley enjoyed book clubs and travel, participating in journeys to European and Asian countries. But, her favorite trips were back to New Orleans and the occasional visit to New York City with her Aunt Rae.
Shirley supported many charities: the Humane Society, PBS and Doctors withoutBorders. Shirley was pre-deceased by her siblings, Warren J. Crane, III and Mary Jane Murphy and by two nephews: Timothy Murphy and Walter J. "Mike" Murphy. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: June "Staci" Murphy (Mike); Patricia Murphy (Mary), Suzy Keepers (Rick); Phil Murphy; Dan Murphy; Maureen Murphy (Tim); Margaret Mae "Mimi" Eppler (Bill); Thomas J. Crane; and Warren J. "Joe" Crane, IV (Wendi) and many great-nephews and nieces.
Shirley was loved by all. Her warmth, intelligence and kindness will long be missed.
