She was born in Vienna, GA, on September 18, 1936 to John David and Rose Mary Middlebrooks.
She was a life time member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses Church. One of her greatest joys was being a part of the "Mommy Patrol" for over 20 years with the East Central School system. Shirley loved her gardening and her menagerie of animals.
She is survived by her son, Daine H. Hughes and wife Nancy; daughter, Glenda Hughes; granddaughter, Ashley Nichole Hughes; sister, Mary Wilkes, brothers, Harold Middlebrooks and Fred Middlebrooks all of GA.
