

Shirley Virginia Ellis Langlinais, died October 3, 2002, in San Antonio. She was born to Oscar Gunn Ellis and Florence Lillian Grevemberg Ellis, on May 20, 1920 at LaGonda, Plantation, Village of Patterson, St. Mary Parish, Louisiana. Shirley received a four-year scholarship to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette after winning first place in Oration for Girls in 1939. She enjoyed many years of camping the Texas Gulf Coast and exploring the Hill Country with her family. She retired as a Bridal Gift consultant for Frost Brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Joseph Langlinais; brother, Oscar G. Ellis, Jr.; sisters, Florence Monk and Gladney Simon. She is survived by her sisters, Cherry Alpha of Lafayette, Louisiana, Helen Johnson of Seattle, Washington, and Gloria Lemke of Montague, California; children, Madeleine Langlinais Mitchell and husband, Harry of San Antonio, Michael Langlinais and wife, Merry of San Antonio, and Shirley Marie Langlinais Sparrow and husband, Mark of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Shelley Langlinais Noll, Juli Langlinais Bryan, Joseph Edward Langlinais, Isaac Sparrow, Megan Sparrow Aldous, Mark Sparrow, Jr., Kimberly Sparrow Scott, Pamela Mitchell Cross, Cynthia Mitchell Williams; as well as many great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and friends.
