She was born on March 6, 1928 in Denver, Colorado and had been a resident of San Antonio since 1970.
She was the only child of Earl and Bessie Waddell, who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death was her husband of 62 years, William W. McCormick.
Shirley had a love for music which she demonstrated through her talents as a soloist and an instrumentalist which she shared with her family and friends. She was also a talented artist as shown through her knitting and many quilts.
Shirley was an award winning bridge player as well. She was a Life Master of Bridge, winning the Aces National Bridge Rubber Championship of 1972 in Las Vegas, but the most important part of her life was her husband who she missed greatly, and her family who she placed in importance above everything else. She was a nurturer and a cheerleader for the family who loved her, and will miss her presence here on Earth, but who look forward to the day they will be reunited with her in heaven.
Those left to cherish her memory, are her son Stephen W. McCormick and wife Katrina; daughter Kathleen Mathena and husband James.
She also leaves grand-daughters Julie Coultress and husband Russell, Erin Camacho and husband Jonathan, and Jana Mathena; grandsons Ryan McCormick and wife Jill and Jeff Mathena and wife Katherine.
Shirley was also proud of her five great-granddaughters, Sarah, Emily and Claire Coultress and Kate and Paige McCormick as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
