

Shirley A. Slaughter, age 76, passed away February 24, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on September 10, 1941 in Austin Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Lydia Rassmussen Bendickson; and husband, Larry Slaughter and son Charles Slaughter. My Mother retired from Lens Crafters as an Optician in Oklahoma city . She also worked for Lens Crafters in Houston and Fort Worth . She also worked as a printer at the San Antonio Boy Scouts of America along with my Step Father Don Slaughter who was a Council Executive . She met my father John Jackson Farrell Jr. while he was a pack mule tour guide in the Grand Canyon . My father passed in 1968 and after his passing she attended Beautician School and worked as a beautician . My mother and step father were very active in Church wherever they lived. In Oklahoma city they were very involved with childrens church and had an extensive puppet ministry when my nieces Catherine , Patricia and Victoria attended thier church . They were also active with special needs and handicapped Boy Scouts in Houston . My mother was a very kind and loving generous soul who had and instilled a profound and deep respect for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ . Shirley is survived by her sons, James Farrell and Fiancé Mary Castellano, Vance Farrell and wife Michella; daughter-in-law, Gayle Slaughter; grandchildren, Catherine Farrell, Patricia Farrell, Victoria Farrell, Courtney Corbello and Jared Slaughter. Visitation will be at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, March 10, 2018 with a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera road, San Antonio, Texas, 78238 with Rev. Joe Walts officiating.
