Born to Howard William and Lizzie Mae McBride in Sylacauga Alabama, Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Rodney Ullmann; her four children Rick Escamilla (Robin), Renee Balcom (Joe), Rhonda Gaitan (Joe), and Ronald Escamilla (Carolyn); her stepdaughter Tanya Harwood (Brian); her grandchildren Michael Gaitan (Adriana), Brandon Escamilla, Megan Cordero (Nathan), Jeff Escamilla, Wesley Escamilla (Rianna), Corey Perkins (Jessica), Katie De La Garza (Armando), Evan Harwood, Avery Harwood, 11 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and a host of lifelong friends.
Shirley was Southern to her core – sharp, sassy, and full of fire. She loved Jesus, cherished her family, and never said no to anything made from sugar. She was a disciplinarian when needed and didn’t mince words. If she believed in something, she stood her ground, stubborn as a mule and proud of it.
She had an eye for beauty, a gift for decorating, and a love for pretty things that turned her home into a reflection of her colorful personality. Christmas was her favorite season, and she made it magical for everyone around her. Whether it was trimming a tree or wrapping a ribbon just right, Shirley put her heart into every detail.
Her energy was contagious, her laughter unforgettable, and her legacy lasting. She lived loudly, loved deeply, and never did anything halfway.
Shirley Ullmann was one of a king, and those blessed enough to know her will carry her spirit with them always.
A visitation for Shirley will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary - West, 1710 West Loop 1604 North, San Antonio, TX 78251, followed by a funeral service from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
