On Saturday, April 23, 2005, MSgt. Simon Richard Cervantez, Jr. USAF-ANG Ret, beloved husband, father, son, and brother went to be with the Lord at the age of 61. He is preceded in death by his mother Jane Cervantez.
He is survived by his devoted and beloved wife of 29 years Mary, three children, Ricardo, Raquel, and Rebecca; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Leticia, and Nicholas; his father, Simon; and brothers: Michael, David, and Marcos; and three sisters: Belia, Sandra, and Cynthia.
Simon retired with the City of San Antonio and the San Antonio Water System after 32 years of service and 20 years of military service with the U. S. Army active duty and the Texas Air National Guard. Simon was a graduate of Brackenridge High School and Southwest Texas State University. Simon was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church and previously St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
He was a soldier of God with the Prison Ministry and a member of the Toastmaster's Club. He loved fishing and was a sport fishing leader for the Texas 4-H Sport Fishing Program.
