She was a woman whose life was defined by quiet dedication and deep love for her family. She held many roles with Harlandale School District , a teacher’s aide, asst. librarian, and asst. coach, she touched the lives of many children with patience, kindness, and encouragement, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to learn alongside her.
At home, she was the heart of her family—a steady, caring presence who found her greatest joy in nurturing those she loved especially her grandson. The weekends she could be found at the nearby VFW enjoying good music and dancing with special friends. She was a proud mother and nana, always offering support, wisdom, and warmth.
She also had a special love for her roses and loved to cut them and place them all around her home. She found peace and happiness in helping things grow, a reflection of the care she gave so freely to others.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Santiago & Guadalupe Casias and sister, Mary Ruiz.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ernesto V. Acosta; son, Raul Acosta and his wife, Dareth, grandson, Samuel Austin Acosta; siblings, Concha Alonzo (+David), Santiago Casias Jr (Rosa) and Pete Casias (Cleo). Simona is also survived by her numerous nieces and nephews.
