Socorro S. De Leon

Born on June 27,1942, she lived her life with an open heart and open arms—she never met a stranger. She cherished her family and friends and found joy in her birds, in knitting, and in traveling throughout Mexico whenever she had the chance. If there was music playing, our mother was dancing.

Known for her kindness, she always tried to help those in need—quietly, generously, and without expecting anything in return. She will be deeply missed by her children and by all who were fortunate to know and love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin Sanchez and Maria Trejo Sanchez; siblings, Antonio Sanchez and Zenaida Sanchez.

She is survived by her children, Maria Urbina (Sergio), Joe A. Urbina, Gloria Estela Gonzalez, Javier Gonzalez (Diane), Angie Felan (Ruben) and Cynthia P. Hinojosa; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sister, Ramona Carrizales.

Her love endures every life she touched.

Socorro De Leon, amada madre, abuela, bisabuela, hermana, y orgullosa hija de México, falleció el 1 de octubre de 2025 en San Antonio, Texas, rodeada de amor.

Nacida el 27 de junio del 1942, vivió con el corazón y los brazos abiertos—nunca conoció a un extraño. Amó profundamente a su familia y a sus amigos, y encontró alegría en sus aves, en el tejido y en viajar por México siempre que tenía la oportunidad. Si había música, nuestra madre estaba bailando.

Conocida por su bondad, siempre procuró ayudar a quienes lo necesitaban—en silencio, con generosidad y sin esperar nada a cambio. Sus hijos, y todos quienes tuvieron la dicha de conocerla y amarla, la extrañarán profundamente.
