

Sophie Teresa Cepeda, age 14, passed away March 9, 2022. Sophie was born July 27, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. She is survived by her devoted parents, Horacio and Elizabeth Cepeda; her big brothers, Zachary and Nicholas; her loyal dogs, Brodie and Bailey; her loving abuelitos, Horacio and Teresa; her adoring tias and tios, Yessica & Shadi, Claudia, and Yasmeen & Mike. Sophie has been received with open arms by her grandma Rose Mary Martinez in heaven.
Sophie was strong, brave, smart, loving, witty, and thoughtful. She participated in many sports (basketball, volleyball, and swimming) but loved softball the most. She started CYO softball for St. Anthony Claret when she was three. She was a honor roll student at Langley Elementary School, Boldt Middle School, Bernal Middle School, and Harlan High School. When Sophie was in girl scouts, she became the top cookie salesgirl in her area selling over 1,500 boxes. She loved baking, roller coasters, disney, and spending time with the people she loved. She loved sweets including candy, ice cream, and donuts. She loved her shopping sprees at Buccees, Target, Costco, and Ulta. She was an amazing sister to her brother with Down Syndrome, always teaching him new things. She was always thinking of others.
The family would like to thank Sophie's second family, the Blairs (Josh, Sarah, Madi, Haylee, and Kinslee); Sophie's best friends, Haylee, Andrea, and Anissa; the staff at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, the staff at Ronald McDonald House, and the staff at University Hospital; and all friends and family who have been a great support for Sophie.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Sophie asks that you bring balloons to celebrate her life or make donation to your local cancer hospital, Ronald McDonald House, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
