Ssg. Alberto Segarra, US Army

August 12, 1970 - December 15, 2014

SSG Alberto Segarra, U.S. Army, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the age of 44. Alberto was born on August 12, 1970, in the Bronx, NY, to Angelo Segarra, Sr. and Olga Segarra.

SSG Segarra worked at Frost Bank, Broadway Bank when he began his military career in US National Guard. Later he worked for the Texas Department of corrections. SSG Segarra worked as a police officer for the Federal Reserve and for a period of time served as a deputized U.S. Marshal for the Army. He went on to serve his country in the Army and saw 3 tours of duty in Iraq while also employed at the VA as a federal officer. After his return, he stayed active as a VA employee until his recent retirement and soldier with the National Guard, from which he was expected to retire soon.

Alberto was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters Maria, Eva, and Elizabeth.

SSG Segarra is survived by his wife Jennifer Segarra; his children, Taylor Segarra, Jordan Segarra, and Sydney Segarra; step children, Joshawn Harris, D'Ontre Harris, and Elora Harris; former wife, Staci Holmes-Segarra; siblings, Angel Segarra, Jr., Luz Segarra, Lucy Segarra, Rene Segarra, and Elena Segarra; and his Brother In Law, Craig Shannon.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Porter Loring Mortuary.
