Stan was my  roommate as I moved into the fraternity house as a second semester freshman.  And, boy,  could I use a stabilizing influence. What a solid role model he was for me whether it was study habits, balancing social and academic, providing leadership on the fraternity, or just attending church on Sunday, The man walked his talk.

My condolences to his family.....

Stan was a big presence at ut law school where we were schoolmates.  Then he married one of the popular & prestigious Busby sisters & moved across the street from us on grandview.   One morning Bette was looking after her garden & Stan mosied over to chat before going to work. He never seemed like he was in a hurry. Stan asked about me. Bette told him that I was heavily concerned that we could reopen our scrap business after being condemned by the City. Stan probed more deeply because he genuinely cared about everyone   Henry Cisneros (later failed) Vista Verde project had set the value low in a rigged system wherein if an appraisal was too generous that appraiser would never be rehired by the City.  It turned out that our very appraiser was Carl nentwich with whom Stan had just taken a job. Carl was a crusty fellow with Castroville roots.  When Stan told Carl he raised our valuation about  thirty percent   That is the reason we could reopen.  Stan was a man of faith & principles who always strove to do the right thing. He was a friend to all.   His memory is a blessing
