will "make" us. We are drawn to people who help us discover who we are. And we weave into these experiences a common thread that is unique to each one of us.
For Stan, this common thread was the tendency to make something extraordinary
out of the ordinary. As a son and sibling, he weaved a sense of quiet strength and independence into his childhood and adolescence with an always-available encouraging word for his four brothers and one sister.
As a veteran, he weaved a commitment to excellence into his service and was commended with a Bronze Star Medal during the Vietnam War. As a professional, he weaved into his career a responsibility for not only his own development but the advancement of his staff and an unwavering accountability to his colleagues. He was proud to be a part of the hospital service industry, completing his service with Steris Corporation.
As a husband, he weaved a sense of adventure into his 29 years of marriage, continually looking for new opportunities, his family moved several times affording his family a variety of experiences. As a road warrior, he weaved a passion into riding motorcycles with his wife and son. He accomplished a life dream by riding to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in 2005. He was an annual presence at the South Padre "Roar by the Shore" Biker Rally. His favorite attire was a pair of jeans coupled with a Harley Davidson shirt. To his son, he weaved into fatherhood lessons like generosity of heart, self-reliance, and the importance of actions over words. He held a resilient and steadfast hope for the happiness of his daughter.
As a grandfather, he was known as "Papa" and lovingly weaved into his ten grandchildren's lives a sense of silliness, patience, nicknames that prompted giggles from toddler to teenager, and a high standard for the best homemade spaghetti and cookies in the world...no...in the universe.
As an entrepreneur, he founded Papa Soap, and weaved into his small business a talent for inventing unexpected creations of soap and other products.
In woodworking, he created handmade gifts for his family and memories with his son.
In everything Stan experienced, he weaved in his uniqueness, and touched lives that will forever be grateful. Among them were those who preceded him in death - his sister Sandra, brother John Steven, and father Harry Joseph Jr. As well as those who embraced him with love as he passed on - his wife
Estella; son Jonathan; daughter Christina; siblings Sonny (Julie), Sidney (Kari), Scott (Ginger), and Sharon; stepchildren Onesimo and Melissa Perez, Dave and Sonia Lopez, Dino and Terry Perez; his grandchildren Elise, Caroline, Jacob, Isabel, Sophia, Olivia, Christopher, Zach, Joseph, Chloe, and Layla; and several nieces and nephews.
We will celebrate the fullness of his 62 years on this earth with a
