Starr was born in Chattanooga TN to Edna B. Crawford Vance and Mitchell F. Vance on August 1, 1934. She attended the University of Chattanooga where she was active in the Art Club and the Choir.
After school, Starr made her way to San Antonio TX with her sister. She worked at John F Kennedy High School. In 1967, Starr was initiated into an Honorary Art Fraternity; the Alpha Sigma Chapter of the Kappa Pi Fraternity, located at Our Lady of the Lake College. She also was an art teacher at St. George Episcopal School and St. Andrews Methodist School. She was very fond of her young students, and she kept much of their artwork throughout the years. In addition to art, Starr loved the Lord, music and her cats.
Starr is preceded in death by her mother, Edna Vance, her father, Mitchell Vance and her sister, Doris Vance Hull.
A Celebration of Life, officiated by Richard R. Amezquita, will be held at 11:00am, Monday March 10, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
