Stephanie Garcia-McElveen was born on November 7, 1985, in San Antonio, Texas, and passed away in her home on June 14, 2026. She lived her life with a gentle spirit, a loving heart, and a faith in God that shaped the way she treated others. Stephanie was a Christian woman whose life reflected kindness, humility, and a sincere care for the people around her.
Stephanie is survived by her husband Kenneth McElveen Jr., her mother Gloria Garcia, her grandmother Debbie Duncan, and her brother Jesse Garcia Jr. Her family was a central part of her life, and she valued every moment spent with them. She was especially known for the warmth she brought into a room and for the way she made others feel welcome, heard, and appreciated. Her presence was a blessing to her family and to all who knew her.
Stephanie pursued her education at San Antonio College, where she studied & graduated, earning degrees in American Sign Language and Kinesiology. She was also attending classes to understand building and operating a business. She wanted to know how to do things the right way, how to connect with the right people, and how to prepare herself for the future. Her determination and willingness to learn spoke to her strength of character and her desire to make something meaningful of her life.
Stephanie was a woman of many gifts and interests, and music held a special place in her heart. She loved singing and found in music one of the truest ways to express herself. She wanted to learn to play the bass guitar again, and she loved being involved in music in any way she could. Music was more than entertainment to her. It was a part of who she was, and it gave voice to her emotions, her joy, and her spirit. Those who knew Stephanie could see how deeply music touched her heart.
She also loved to travel and enjoyed going on vacation anywhere she could. Among all the places she enjoyed, the beach was especially dear to her. She loved arriving at the hotel and going straight to the pool, ready to relax and enjoy every moment.
Stephanie also enjoyed watching movies and spending quiet, meaningful time with the people she loved. She had a special affection for the holidays and always wanted to go all-out for each one. Thanksgiving and Christmas were especially precious to her because she loved having her family together. Those gatherings reflected the joy she found in togetherness and the love she carried for her family traditions.
Stephanie also had a thoughtful and creative side. She loved writing and had hoped one day to write a story about a time in high school. She enjoyed writing letters to God or about anything else. Her words, like her actions, often carried warmth, sincerity, and care. She was loving, funny, and wise, and those qualities made her unforgettable to the people blessed to know her.
Stephanie’s life was one of faith, family, and heartfelt expression. She lived with a spirit that was both gentle and strong, and she left behind memories that will continue to comfort and inspire those who loved her. Though her earthly journey has ended, her life remains a testimony to the beauty of kindness, the strength of perseverance, and the peace that comes from walking with God. Her family and friends will forever treasure the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the wisdom she offered so freely.
As we remember Stephanie, we give thanks for the gift of her life and the many ways she touched others. We trust in the Lord’s promise of eternal life and the comfort of His presence in times of sorrow. May Stephanie rest in the peace of Christ, and may her memory continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at My Friend's House Christian Fellowship, 2222 Reyes Lane, San Antonio, TX 78245, on June 26, 2026, at 7:00 pm.
