He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
He served the nation as a B-17 pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II, earning numerous commendations during 53 bombing and reconnaissance missions over the Pacific Theater.
After the war, he earned a JD from St. Mary's Law School.
He was highly respected in the oil and gas industry, where he worked until the time of his death as a landman, promoter and wildcatter.
He was a founder of the American Association of Professional Landmen.
He thoroughly enjoyed golf, ranching and sports.
His greatest successes, though, came as a husband, father and grandfather, and he was dearly loved by his family and his many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine W. Blount; his sons, Stephen W. Blount IV; Craig M. Blount; Mark W. Blount and his wife, Donna; Scott B. Blount and his wife, Catherine; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren
