Stephen Conrad Gamboa, beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, at the age of 72. He was born on February 5, 1954, and throughout his life, Stephen created many cherished memories with the people he loved.
Stephen had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating, and barbecuing. He loved spending time on the water and sharing good times with family and friends. He also had a generous heart and enjoyed helping others, including house sitting and dog sitting for those he cared about.
Stephen was a proud member of the Coastal Conservation Association of Texas and the Weekend 4 Wheeler Club in St. Hedwig. He generously volunteered for the annual Billy Sandifer Beach Cleanup at South Padre Island and annually volunteered at the Kids Fish Cookout in Corpus Christi. His love for the outdoors and willingness to give back to his community were important parts of who he was.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Olga Gamboa; father, Raymond L. Gamboa; stepmother, Evangelina Gamboa; brothers, Robert Gamboa, baby Stephen Gamboa, and baby John Alexander Gamboa.
Stephen is survived by his son, Stephen Gamboa Jr.; brothers, Richard, Raymond, Nick, and John Matthew Gamboa; sisters, Gloria Gomez Cardenas, Gloria Castillo Cardenas, Teresa, Gina, Michelle, Tina, Christine, and Mercedes; along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews. A special acknowledgment goes to his niece, Mandie Boyer, who was devoted to her uncle and was by his side in the end.
Stephen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. His memories will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237, US, on September 7, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, with a Funeral Liturgy led by Deacon Bob Ruiz from 7:00 pm to 7:20 pm, a Eulogy from 7:20 pm to 7:40 pm, and a Rosary from 7:40 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Luke Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Dr, San Antonio, TX 78228, US, on September 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by Committal at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237, US, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. A reception will follow after burial at St. Luke's reception hall at 12:30 pm.
