Steve was born on October 24, 1968 in Grand Prairie, TX. Being the eldest son, he loved joking around with Kristy and Clint all the time throughout their childhood; making Clint eat chicken feed, pretending he was eating it as well and picking on Kristy all the time. There was never a dull moment during his childhood. Papa always had projects he wanted to complete and loved building stuff together. Hunting and fishing were two of his passions growing up. Papa & Nana raised a devoted Christian man. God was always his priority in life. He joined a wonderful accountability group at Concordia Lutheran Church with wonderful Christian men.
Steve shared his passion for sports with Papa, big Texas Rangers Fans; always talking about the games and how great or bad their teams played, and he got to see them winning the world series in 2023; he couldn’t have been happier. He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Spurs. Steve made sure to take Zachary to a Spurs game at least once a year.
Steve had a very successful professional career. He started on a small bank in Mt. Pleasant, TX where he met his friend for life, Lance. Later on, he went to Pilgrim’s Pride where he had the opportunity to travel to Mexico where he met the love of his life, Claudia. He, as well, teased with her a lot, throwing rubber bands at her from his office. He wanted to prove to her he was brave by parachuting from a plane at 10K miles in the air. Years later he confessed he just did it to impress her, and oh man, she learned then Steve would do anything for her. They, together, moved to San Antonio to continue his career and called San Antonio his second home.
Besides his beloved wife, Claudia, his brother Clint (Dia), and sister Kristy, he left behind his two children, Zachary and Victoria; his favorite nieces and nephews, Holly, Heidi, Pato, Pablo, Hayes, Harbor, and Declan who will miss his dad jokes.
Steve and Victoria are big Star War fans and would spend long hours talking about the next show and all the characters and were so excited to visit Star Wars land at Disney World.
Steve was a devoted husband and dad, making sure he was at every swim meet for Zachary, basketball game and robotics competition for Victoria, and always at the finish line of Claudia’s races. He never failed to put his family before him. Steve was very happy when Victoria joined the CCS basketball team, a sport he understood and could coach; not so much swimming, sometimes recording the wrong child during a swim event, but he was always there supporting and cheering for his family, small or big event he was there.
We kindly ask for no flowers please. We instead would like to honor Steve by giving donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Association, where he had a passion to find a cure and volunteering at every event he could.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 8th. Visitation at 10:00 am following by Memorial Service at 11:00 am at Concordia Lutheran Church.
Everyone has a Steve story, and we would love to hear them all.
We love you Flaco!
