Steve attended Kemper Military School and served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He embodied the slogan "once a Marine, always a Marine".
He received his bachelor's degree in economics from Missouri Valley College and pursued a career in banking and finance.
Steve went on to become president of various banks in Beaumont, TX. He then relocated to San Antonio to work for CUNA Mutual Mortgage Company.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clark G. McCorkle and his brother, Alan McCorkle.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Beth, their four children, Kevin, Allison, Jamie and Andrew and their families; his mother, Louise C. McCorkle; and two sisters, Carroll McCorkle and Ann Hirz.
Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
