

Stephen proudly served in the United States Air Force as a medic for twenty- two years and served as a Vietnam medic for one year. He was incredibly proud of his military career as he would talk about it frequently. He enjoyed sharing stories and memories about the time that he had in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he continued his passion and stayed with a career in the medical field as a Laboratory Technician for an additional twenty years until his retirement in the early 2000s. Mr. Nettleton loved his family and was a very family oriented man. He loved to travel and he was very fortunate to have lived overseas for years and continued to travel to many places throughout the world during his life. His smile would light up a room and he was always able to make everyone laugh with his silly sense of humor.
Mr. Nettelton is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James R. Nettleton. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carmen M. Nettleton; his daughter Elizabeth Rios (Mario) and his son Dean S. Nettleton; Grandchildren, Maegan E. Musquiz (Kristopher), Matthew S. Nettleton, Maria Rios and Alejandro D. Rios; Great Grandchildren, Jaedyn A. Musquiz and Kaleb A. Musquiz.
Visitations will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78212 on Monday, August 23rd, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24th, 2021. A resurrection mass will be held at Holy Family Church, 152 Florencia Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78228 at 12:00 pm with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Ceremony, 1535 Harry Wurzbach, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
