Born on September 18, 1943, in Georgetown, Guyana, Pastor Prescod was the beloved son of William Francis Prescod and Pearl Elizabeth Prescod. He received his early education at Carmel Roman Catholic School, and as a child he served as an acolyte, lighting candles during church services. One of ten children, Pastor Prescod also marched in the Boys’ Brigade band alongside several of his brothers—an early reflection of the discipline and leadership that would define his life. He later attended trade school and developed skills in carpentry and construction.
Through divine design and God’s faithful guidance, Pastor Prescod relocated to the United States in 1971 in pursuit of greater opportunities for his family and future generations. Shortly after arriving in the United States, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Through hard work and determination, he completed coursework in Business Management at St. Philip’s College while excelling in military leadership training throughout a distinguished career in the United States Army.
Pastor Prescod honorably served his country for 24 years as a Combat Field Medic. His exceptional leadership earned numerous honors and promotions, culminating in the highest enlisted rank of Sergeant Major.
While still serving on active duty in the early 1980’s, Pastor Prescod answered a divine calling and became an ordained minister. Following military retirement, he became the founding pastor of Church of the Firstborn, SA in Schertz, Texas, where countless lives were impacted through preaching, teaching, prayer, mentorship, and acts of compassion.
Pastor Prescod was known for quiet strength, unwavering faith, wisdom, generosity, and a true servant’s heart. Even after stepping away from full time pastoral leadership, he remained a trusted advisor and spiritual father until being called home to glory.
Pastor Prescod leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Carolyn; his beloved children Shelly, Paula, Sharice, Ede, Jacqueline, Lloyd, Loretta, Anthony, and June; sons-in-law John and CJ; daughter-in-law Kathy; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Cicely; brothers Charles and Lenox; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and dear friends.
Though Pastor Prescod will be deeply missed, his family and loved ones rejoice in the assurance that his life was well-lived, his assignment was fulfilled and his eternal reward is secure.
