Steve built a long and varied career throughout his life. He worked as a commercial pilot and flying instructor, later moving into retail management with JCPenney and Houston Trunk Factory. He also owned and operated a sports apparel store, Pro Jersey, located at the former Windsor Park Mall.
One of Steve’s most memorable roles was as a school bus driver for NEISD, a job he truly loved and took great pride in. Of all the jobs he held throughout his life, it was one he talked about often and enjoyed more than most. He was known for his strong work ethic and the care he brought to everything he did.
Outside of work, Steve had a wide range of interests. He was an avid sports fan who loved basketball, football and baseball. He enjoyed photography, airplanes, flying, antiques, collectibles and carnival glass. He had an obsession with buying and selling trinkets on eBay and also ran a booth at Craftiques. Above all, he loved being involved in his grandchildren’s activities and supporting their lives. He especially loved watching Dylan play basketball and practicing spelling words with Sydney on his lap.
Steve will be remembered for his sense of humor, gentle nature, kindness, and deep devotion to his family. He had a deep love for animals, especially his dogs Chance, Baxter, and Waylon, and showed a softer side through the affection and loyalty he gave them.
He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
