

Steve was born in Richmond California to Charles and Marvis Gabriel on July 25, 1950. He graduated from MacArthur High School prior to serving in the United States Navy. He married Gogi Flores on August 14, 1978 in San Antonio, Texas then worked as a Ballroom dance instructor while attending the University of Texas at San Antonio. During that time, he also worked as a roadie for the local big band, Monsanto. After graduating he worked as an Adjuster for State Farm Insurance before retiring after 30 years of service.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marvis Gabriel and his beloved uncle, Morris (Bubba) Moore.
Steve is survived by his wife Gogi Gabriel, sisters Pat Parker, Linda Story, Donna James, Dianna Holloway and many nephews and nieces.
Steve enjoyed working on his family’s ranch raising cattle and developing the land. He had a great appreciation for the arts; collecting paintings, artifacts and sculptures. He was a car enthusiast who enjoyed car shows and refurbishing cars. Steve was a jack of all trades. There was nothing he couldn’t do. He especially loved his animals and raised several pets over the years. He had a love for all music particularly Country and Western. He will be remembered for his wisdom, sense of humor, kindness and the love he had for his family.
A Celebration of Steve’s life will be held from 3pm to 6pm with a Rosary to begin at 4pm on Sunday, June 7th at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218.
A farewell mass will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, June 8th at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Father Pat O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery followed by a reception at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
For those wishing to express sympathy, the family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or K9s for Warriors, as the cemetery limits the number of flower arrangements allowed on sight.
